Welcome to Binge Central, a website created for and by people who love to watch and talk TV. We’re three University of Maryland journalism school graduates with a penchant for all things entertainment.
Josh Axelrod, co-founder: In 2014, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette officially declared him a “TV aficionado,” a title he has earned over 22 years of proving his television mettle. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa., to two journalists, two things were always for sure: he was going to bleed black and gold, and he was going into journalism. Now he is an assistant producer with Gannett Digital in McLean, Va.
Favorite TV show comedy: “Community”
Favorite TV show drama: “Game of Thrones”
Favorite Episode of TV: “Regional Holiday Music,” “Community”
TV spirit animal: Leonard from “The Big Bang Theory,” or Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak’s relationship, Real Life
Favorite quote: This entire exchange
David Oliver, co-founder: Just a journalist born and raised in N.J. asking no one to judge him for liking “Gilmore Girls.” He’s the Food Dive associate editor at Industry Dive in Washington, D.C. Sometimes he thinks there’s a person narrating everything he does, but that’s probably just the Netflix talking in the background.
Favorite TV show comedy: “The Office”
Favorite TV show drama: “Friday Night Lights”
Favorite episode of TV: “The Suitcase,” “Mad Men”
TV spirit animal: Fat Betty, “Mad Men” OR Jim and Pam’s relationship, “The Office”
Favorite quote: “Change. We don’t like it. We fear it, but we can’t stop it from coming. We either adapt to change or we get left behind. It hurts to grow, anybody who tells you it doesn’t is lying, but here’s the truth sometimes the more things change the more they stay the same. And sometimes, oh, sometimes change is good. Sometimes change is everything.” – “Grey’s Anatomy,” but really any “Grey’s Anatomy” quote
Anamika Roy, co-founder: When she’s not watching TV, she’s a reporter with MetroWest Daily News in Framingham, Mass. Some call journalism a higher-calling to benefit society, she just does it for the crazy stories. She’s pretty sure her life is a sitcom.
Favorite TV show comedy: “Sex and the City”
Favorite TV show drama: “Mad Men”
Favorite episode of TV: “Hitting the Fan,” “The Good Wife”
TV spirit animal: Mindy Lahiri, “The Mindy Project” OR Leslie Knope, “Parks and Recreation”
Favorite TV quote: “Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn’t fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it’s comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you’re very lucky, a plane ride away.” Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City
Also, anything said by Ron Swanson on “Parks and Recreation”
