Jake hasn’t been coping too well after ending things with Sophia, so this week’s episode of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” was all about Terry and Boyle’s version of catharsis, which they dubbed “catharting.” Meanwhile, Amy and Rosa battle it out to see who gets Saturday off and Gina and Holt realize they’re more similar than they seem.
On this week’s episode, Jake’s defense attorney girlfriend Sophia returns and confronts him about some issues their relationship is facing, while Amy tries to settle Gina and Boyle’s argument about the future of the relationship between their parents and Holt seeks out Rosa’s advice regarding Wuntch.
Every successful television show’s worst fear can be summed up in two words: sophomore slump. I was initially nervous that after such a spectacular first season, there was no way “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” could do better. It was simply expecting too much. The second season premiere, however, did not disappoint, proving that “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is still one of the best comedies on television.
